The horses on the following pages are my personal horses.
Storm and Colonel have been with me since birth and were
the result of stallions and mares that I owned at the time. Madeira was
a very important purchase for me and I studied quite a while before bringing
him home as a weanling. Rose has been a
part of my life off and on for about fifteen years. Peppy, at four, is the youngest and has been
with me since he was two.
The horse industry is experiencing extraordinary
circumstances, not seen before. With so
many horses in crisis, I do not take keeping stallions and breeding them
lightly. I have gelded several in recent
years. However, I feel the stallions
that I have for sale, have unique bloodlines that should not perish while this
industry readjusts for its future.
Three of my horses have the honor of representing the
Foundation Quarter Horse Breed in Fran Lynghaug’s new book entitled “ The
Official Horse Breeds Standards Book.”
This book will be available internationally in October of 2009. What a thrill it has been for me to have two of the three horses
featured in such an important book, bred on my farm. They were the result of
years of studying pedigrees!
These horses are well socialized and have been one-owner
horses (with the exception of Rose and Peppy) and have been handled
consistently since birth.
We have an interesting phenomenon in the horse industry
that I truly wish would change. Everyone
advertises, no matter how old the horse, that they have a completely sound
horse. Hmm….. I’m now middle aged and I certainly have some
wear and tear from the years, I wouldn’t consider myself completely sound! Our horses as they age, have some wear and
tear like we do. Some people honestly
don’t see that their horse isn’t moving properly, don’t realize
that the horse is fussing for the
farrier because he has the start of some arthritis or back pain, etc. Others do and ignore it! The things I have seen over a lifetime career
with horses have been painfully sad. I
would like to see a day where it is generally accepted that horses have health
issues, just like people, and that those issues are disclosed for better
health, happiness and relationships of horses and owners.
I am interested in attaining lifetime homes for my
special horses. I will disclose
everything that I know about them because I want them to have a successful
relationship with their new owner. With
the exception of Rose and Peppy (though I think I have most of their history) the others have been
in my care their entire lives.
If you are looking for a horse that does not have a
history of multiple owners, handlers and trainers, that has been handled and
trained in a consistent manner, which facilitates an emotionally balanced
individual, that is well socialized and responsive to their handler and that
you will have their complete medical history, I may have the horse you are
interested in!
